About Us
Bayfront Medical Center's Medical Library is named for Dr. Charles E. Aucremann, who was a life long supporter of medical education. Dr. Aucremann was the former Bayfront chief of the medical staff , and Director of the Residency Program. He also was founder and chairman emeritus of the University of South Florida College of Medicine Department of Family Medicine.
The library is an excellent resource for Bayfront clinical staff and physicians. It houses an extensive collection of medical
journals and texts, and offers online services that can be accessed offsite from home or office. A full-time medical librarian
is on-site Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, for assistance with requests and searches.
The Library also maintains the Charles M. McCurdy Collection, named for a former director of the hospital's Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician Residency Program. This collection is located on the third floor of the hospital's Center for Women's Services. Plans are underway to develop a specialized Maternal-Fetal Medicine resource with All Children's Hospital.
Other special resource collections serve the Family Practice Physician Residency and The Sports Medicine Fellowship Programs which are located in the Bayfront Family Health Center, across the street from the main hospital.
Medical Education at Bayfront also includes being a designated MAGNET Hospital for nursing education along with accredited internship programs in graduate Clinical Laboratory, Pharmacy, and Emergency Medicine specialities.
